Jim Jeffrey is a Musician and Graphic Designer in Los Angeles, California.
Musically, Jim works in the Jazz, Classical, Progressive, Pop and World Music genres as well as producing other artists. Jim performs and composes in several styles from Jazz and Classical to Popular and Experimental music to jazz and progressive rock. Jim is a music professor at College of the Canyons in Valencia, California teaching jazz improvisation, music theory, music production via Logic Pro and private guitar lessons. He has taught guitar at California Institute of the Arts and continues privately and in various music studios. Jim has earned an MFA from California Institute of the Arts and has completed the Master Recording Program II from the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences as well as a degree in Graphic Design.
In addition to Jim's work on the guitar, he also plays a GuitarViol which is a bowed guitar that he constructed under the guidance of Jonathan Wilson, founder of TogaMan GuitarViols. Instructors who Jim has worked with include Ustad Aashish Khan, Vinny Golia, Ulrich Krieger, Stuart Fox, Miroslav Tadic, Larry Koonse, Sid Jacobs, Teddy Pantelas and Paul Petric.
Having worked on many records for major and indi labels Jim understands both sides of the recording studio and regularly works on recording projects for various artists. Labels that Jim has credit on include Virgin, Columbia and Metal God Records.
